Chanukah at the Streicker Center

Temple Emanu-El invites you to a special Festival of Lights Shabbat service that will feature a performance of Chanukah songs, as well as “Sabbath Prayer” and “Sunrise, Sunset,” by Steven Skybell, who played Tevye in the recent National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene production of Fiddler on the Roof, Jennifer Babiak, who played Golde, and Lauren Jeanne Thomas, der fidler. Lauren will be performing in the online cabaret, "Hava Tequila" in which she will be playing violin and singing. It will premiere February 24th at 7PM ET, and run until Sunday the 28th. On the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, we gathered in the historic Temple Emanu-El sanctuary to commemorate that liberation, to underscore the commitment of the Jewish community to never forget and to continue the struggle against anti-Semitism and all forms of racial and ethnic hatred. World-renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman headlined this very special musical event and was joined by Joel Grey with the cast and orchestra of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish.
